Jasher, Chapter 49

1 After these things the king sent and assembled all his officers and servants, and all the princes and nobles belonging to the king, and they all came before the king.
2 And the king said unto them, Behold you have seen and heard all the words of this Hebrew man, and all the signs which he declared would come to pass, and not any of his words have fallen to the ground.
3 You know that he has given a proper interpretation of the dream, and it will surely come to pass, now therefore take counsel, and know what you will do and how the land will be delivered from the famine.
4 Seek now and see whether the like can be found, in whose heart there is wisdom and knowledge, and I will appoint him over the land.
5 For you have heard what the Hebrew man has advised concerning this to save the land therewith from the famine, and I know that the land will not be delivered from the famine but with the advice of the Hebrew man, him that advised me.
6 And they all answered the king and said, The counsel which the Hebrew has given concerning this is good; now therefore, our lord and king, behold the whole land is in your hand, do that which seems good in your sight.
7 Him whom you chooses, and whom you in your wisdom knowest to be wise and capable of delivering the land with his wisdom, him shall the king appoint to be under him over the land.
8 And the king said to all the officers: I have thought that since YAHWEH has made known to the Hebrew man all that he has spoken, there is none so discreet and wise in the whole land as he is; if it seem good in your sight I will place him over the land, for he will save the land with his wisdom.
9 And all the officers answered the king and said, But surely it is written in the laws of Egypt, and it should not be violated, that no man shall reign over Egypt, nor be the second to the king, but one who has knowledge in all the languages of the sons of men.
10 Now therefore our lord and king, behold this Hebrew man can only speak the Hebrew language, and how then can he be over us the second under government, a man who not even knows our language?
11 Now we pray you send for him, and let him come before you, and prove him in all things, and do as you see fit.
12 And the king said, It shall be done tomorrow, and the thing that you have spoken is good; and all the officers came on that day before the king.
13 And on that night YAHWEH sent one of his ministering heavenly messengers, and he came into the land of Egypt unto Yoseph, and the heavenly messenger of YAHWEH stood over Yoseph, and behold Yoseph was lying in the bed at night in his master's house in the dungeon, for his master had put him back into the dungeon on account of his wife.
14 And the heavenly messenger roused him from his sleep, and Yoseph rose up and stood upon his legs, and behold the heavenly messenger of YAHWEH was standing opposite to him; and the heavenly messenger of YAHWEH spoke with Yoseph, and he taught him all the languages of man in that night, and he called his name Jehoseph.
15 And the heavenly messenger of YAHWEH went from him, and Yoseph returned and lay upon his bed, and Yoseph was astonished at the vision which he saw.
16 And it came to pass in the morning that the king sent for all his officers and servants, and they all came and sat before the king, and the king ordered Yoseph to be brought, and the king's servants went and brought Yoseph before Pharaoh.
17 And the king came forth and ascended the steps of the throne, and Yoseph spoke unto the king in all languages, and Yoseph went up to him and spoke unto the king until he arrived before the king in the seventieth step, and he sat before the king.
18 And the king greatly rejoiced on account of Yoseph, and all the king's officers rejoiced greatly with the king when they heard all the words of Yoseph.
19 And the thing seemed good in the sight of the king and the officers, to appoint Yoseph to be second to the king over the whole land of Egypt, and the king spoke to Yoseph, saying,
20 Now you didst give me counsel to appoint a wise man over the land of Egypt, in order with his wisdom to save the land from the famine; now therefore, since YAHWEH has made all this known to you, and all the words which you hast spoken, there is not throughout the land a discreet and wise man like unto you.
21 And your name no more shall be called Yoseph, but Zaphnath Paaneah shall be your name; you shall be second to me, and according to your word shall be all the affairs of my government, and at your word shall my people go out and come in.
22 Also from under your hand shall my servants and officers receive their salary which is given to them monthly, and to you shall all the people of the land bow down; only in my throne will I be greater than you.
23 And the king took off his ring from his hand and put it upon the hand of Yoseph, and the king dressed Yoseph in a princely garment, and he put a golden crown upon his head, and he put a golden chain upon his neck.
24 And the king commanded his servants, and they made him ride in the second chariot belonging to the king, that went opposite to the king's chariot, and he caused him to ride upon a great and strong horse from the king's horses, and to be conducted through the streets of the land of Egypt.
25 And the king commanded that all those that played upon timbrels, harps and other musical instruments should go forth with Yoseph; one thousand timbrels, one thousand mecholoth, and one thousand nebalim went after him.
26 And five thousand men, with drawn swords glittering in their hands, and they went marching and playing before Yoseph, and twenty thousand of the great men of the king girt with girdles of skin covered with gold, marched at the right hand of Yoseph, and twenty thousand at his left, and all the women and damsels went upon the roofs or stood in the streets playing and rejoicing at Yoseph, and gazed at the appearance of Yoseph and at his beauty.
27 And the king's people went before him and behind him, perfuming the road with frankincense and with cassia, and with all sorts of fine perfume, and scattered myrrh and aloes along the road, and twenty men proclaimed these words before him throughout the land in a loud voice:
28 Do you see this man whom the king has chosen to be his second? all the affairs of government shall be regulated by him, and he that transgresses his orders, or that does not bow down before him to the ground, shall die, for he rebels against the king and his second.
29 And when the heralds had ceased proclaiming, all the people of Egypt bowed down to the ground before Yoseph and said, May the king live, also may his second live; and all the inhabitants of Egypt bowed down along the road, and when the heralds approached them, they bowed down, and they rejoiced with all sorts of timbrels, mechol and nebal before Yoseph.
30 And Yoseph upon his horse lifted up his eyes to heaven, and called out and said, He raises the poor man from the dust, He lifts up the needy from the dunghill. O YAHWEH of Hosts, happy is the man who trusts in you.
31 And Yoseph passed throughout the land of Egypt with Pharaoh's servants and officers, and they showed him the whole land of Egypt and all the king's treasures.
32 And Yoseph returned and came on that day before Pharaoh, and the king gave unto Yoseph a possession in the land of Egypt, a possession of fields and vineyards, and the king gave unto Yoseph three thousand talents of silver and one thousand talents of gold, and onyx stones and bdellium and many gifts.
33 And on the next day the king commanded all the people of Egypt to bring unto Yoseph offerings and gifts, and that he that violated the command of the king should die; and they made a high place in the street of the city, and they spread out garments there, and whoever brought anything to Yoseph put it into the high place.
34 And all the people of Egypt cast something into the high place, one man a golden ear-ring, and the other rings and ear-rings, and different vessels of gold and silver work, and onyx stones and bdellium did he cast upon the high place; every one gave something of what he possessed.
35 And Yoseph took all these and placed them in his treasuries, and all the officers and nobles belonging to the king exalted Yoseph, and they gave him many gifts, seeing that the king had chosen him to be his second.
36 And the king sent to Potiphera, the son of Ahiram priest of On, and he took his young daughter Osnath and gave her unto Yoseph for a wife.
37 And the damsel was very comely, a virgin, one whom man had not known, and Yoseph took her for a wife; and the king said unto Yoseph, I am Pharaoh, and beside you none shall dare to lift up his hand or his foot to regulate my people throughout the land of Egypt.
Year 2229
38 And Yoseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, and Yoseph went out from before the king, and he became the king's second in Egypt.
39 And the king gave Yoseph a hundred servants to attend him in his house, and Yoseph also sent and purchased many servants and they remained in the house of Yoseph.
40 Yoseph then built for himself a very magnificent house like unto the houses of kings, before the court of the king's palace, and he made in the house a large temple, very elegant in appearance and convenient for his residence; three years was Yoseph in erecting his house.
41 And Yoseph made unto himself a very elegant throne of abundance of gold and silver, and he covered it with onyx stones and bdellium, and he made upon it the likeness of the whole land of Egypt, and the likeness of the river of Egypt that waters the whole land of Egypt; and Yoseph sat securely upon his throne in his house and YAHWEH increased Yoseph's wisdom.
42 And all the inhabitants of Egypt and Pharaoh's servants and his princes loved Yoseph exceedingly, for this thing was from YAHWEH to Yoseph.
43 And Yoseph had an army that made war, going out in hosts and troops to the number of forty thousand six hundred men, capable of bearing arms to assist the king and Yoseph against the enemy, besides the king's officers and his servants and inhabitants of Egypt without number.
44 And Yoseph gave unto his mighty men, and to all his host, shields and javelins, and caps and coats of mail and stones for slinging.

Jasher, Chapter 3

Year 687

1 And Enoch lived sixty-five years and he begat Methuselah; and Enoch walked with YAHWEH after having begot Methuselah, and he served YAHWEH, and despised the evil ways of men.
2 And the soul of Enoch was wrapped up in the instruction of YAHWEH, in knowledge and in understanding; and he wisely retired from the sons of men, and secreted himself from them for many days.
3 And it was at the expiration of many years, while he was serving YAHWEH, and praying before him in his house, that an heavenly messenger of YAHWEH called to him from Heaven, and he said, Here am I.
4 And he said, Rise, go forth from your house and from the place where you dost hide thyself, and appear to the sons of men, in order that you may teach them the way in which they should go and the work which they must accomplish to enter in the ways of YAHWEH.
5 And Enoch rose up according to the word of YAHWEH, and went forth from his house, from his place and from the chamber in which he was concealed; and he went to the sons of men and taught them the ways of YAHWEH, and at that time assembled the sons of men and acquainted them with the instruction of YAHWEH.
6 And he ordered it to be proclaimed in all places where the sons of men dwelt, saying, Where is the man who wishes to know the ways of YAHWEH and good works? let him come to Enoch.
7 And all the sons of men then assembled to him, for all who desired this thing went to Enoch, and Enoch reigned over the sons of men according to the word of YAHWEH, and they came and bowed to him and they heard his word.
8 And the spirit of YAHWEH was upon Enoch, and he taught all his men the wisdom of YAHWEH and his ways, and the sons of men served YAHWEH all the days of Enoch, and they came to hear his wisdom.
9 And all the kings of the sons of men, both first and last, together with their princes and judges, came to Enoch when they heard of his wisdom, and they bowed down to him, and they also required of Enoch to reign over them, to which he consented.
10 And they assembled in all, one hundred and thirty kings and princes, and they made Enoch king over them and they were all under his power and command.
11 And Enoch taught them wisdom, knowledge, and the ways of YAHWEH; and he made peace amongst them, and peace was throughout the earth during the life of Enoch.
12 And Enoch reigned over the sons of men two hundred and forty-three years, and he did justice and righteousness with all his people, and he led them in the ways of YAHWEH.
13 And these are the generations of Enoch, Methuselah, Elisha, and Elimelech, three sons; and their sisters were Melca and Nahmah, and Methuselah lived eighty-seven years and he begat Lamech.
Year 930
14 And it was in the fifty-sixth year of the life of Lamech when Adam died; nine hundred and thirty years old was he at his death, and his two sons, with Enoch and Methuselah his son, buried him with great pomp, as at the burial of kings, in the cave which YAHWEH had told him.
15 And in that place all the sons of men made a great mourning and weeping on account of Adam; it has therefore become a custom among the sons of men to this day.
16 And Adam died because he ate of the tree of knowledge; he and his children after him, as YAHWEH the ALMIGHTY had spoken.
17 And it was in the year of Adam's death which was the two hundred and forty-third year of the reign of Enoch, in that time Enoch resolved to separate himself from the sons of men and to secret himself as at first in order to serve YAHWEH.
18 And Enoch did so, but did not entirely secret himself from them, but kept away from the sons of men three days and then went to them for one day.
19 And during the three days that he was in his chamber, he prayed to, and praised YAHWEH his ALMIGHTY, and the day on which he went and appeared to his subjects he taught them the ways of YAHWEH, and all they asked him about YAHWEH he told them.
20 And he did in this manner for many years, and he afterward concealed himself for six days, and appeared to his people one day in seven; and after that once in a month, and then once in a year, until all the kings, princes and sons of men sought for him, and desired again to see the face of Enoch, and to hear his word; but they could not, as all the sons of men were greatly afraid of Enoch, and they feared to approach him on account of the Godlike awe that was seated upon his countenance; therefore no man could look at him, fearing he might be punished and die.
21 And all the kings and princes resolved to assemble the sons of men, and to come to Enoch, thinking that they might all speak to him at the time when he should come forth amongst them, and they did so.
22 And the day came when Enoch went forth and they all assembled and came to him, and Enoch spoke to them the words of YAHWEH and he taught them wisdom and knowledge, and they bowed down before him and they said, May the king live! May the king live!
23 And in some time after, when the kings and princes and the sons of men were speaking to Enoch, and Enoch was teaching them the ways of YAHWEH, behold an heavenly messenger of YAHWEH then called unto Enoch from heaven, and wished to bring him up to heaven to make him reign there over the sons of YAHWEH, as he had reigned over the sons of men upon earth.
24 When at that time Enoch heard this he went and assembled all the inhabitants of the earth, and taught them wisdom and knowledge and gave them divine instructions, and he said to them, I have been required to ascend into heaven, I therefore do not know the day of my going.
25 And now therefore I will teach you wisdom and knowledge and will give you instruction before I leave you, how to act upon earth whereby you may live; and he did so.
26 And he taught them wisdom and knowledge, and gave them instruction, and he reproved them, and he placed before them statutes and judgments to do upon earth, and he made peace amongst them, and he taught them everlasting life, and dwelt with them some time teaching them all these things.
27 And at that time the sons of men were with Enoch, and Enoch was speaking to them, and they lifted up their eyes and the likeness of a great horse descended from heaven, and the horse paced in the air;
28 And they told Enoch what they had seen, and Enoch said to them, On my account does this horse descend upon earth; the time is come when I must go from you and I shall no more be seen by you.
29 And the horse descended at that time and stood before Enoch, and all the sons of men that were with Enoch saw him.
30 And Enoch then again ordered a voice to be proclaimed, saying, Where is the man who delights to know the ways of YAHWEH his ALMIGHTY, let him come this day to Enoch before he is taken from us.
31 And all the sons of men assembled and came to Enoch that day; and all the kings of the earth with their princes and counsellors remained with him that day; and Enoch then taught the sons of men wisdom and knowledge, and gave them divine instruction; and he bade them serve YAHWEH and walk in his ways all the days of their lives, and he continued to make peace amongst them.
32 And it was after this that he rose up and rode upon the horse; and he went forth and all the sons of men went after him, about eight hundred thousand men; and they went with him one day's journey.
33 And the second day he said to them, Return home to your tents, why will you go? perhaps you may die; and some of them went from him, and those that remained went with him six day's journey; and Enoch said to them every day, Return to your tents, lest you may die; but they were not willing to return, and they went with him.
34 And on the sixth day some of the men remained and clung to him, and they said to him, We will go with you to the place where you goest; as YAHWEH lives, death only shall separate us.
35 And they urged so much to go with him, that he ceased speaking to them; and they went after him and would not return;
36 And when the kings returned they caused a census to be taken, in order to know the number of remaining men that went with Enoch; and it was upon the seventh day that Enoch ascended into heaven in a whirlwind, with horses and chariots of fire.
37 And on the eighth day all the kings that had been with Enoch sent to bring back the number of men that were with Enoch, in that place from which he ascended into heaven.
38 And all those kings went to the place and they found the earth there filled with snow, and upon the snow were large stones of snow, and one said to the other, Come, let us break through the snow and see, perhaps the men that remained with Enoch are dead, and are now under the stones of snow, and they searched but could not find him, for he had ascended into heaven.

The Book of Enoch: "Now, my son Mathusala, all these things I speak unto thee, and write for thee. To thee I have revealed all, and have given thee books of everything. Preserve, my son Mathusala, the books written by thy father; that thou mayest transmit them to future generations. Wisdom have I given to thee, to thy children, and thy posterity, that they may transmit to their children, for generations for ever"

Scriptures
Romans 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Deuteronomy 16:19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.
20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Deuteronomy 28:58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, The Lord Thy God;
59 Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
63 And it shall come to pass, that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Psalm 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Psalm 36:1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
Psalm 94:8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
Psalm 90:11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Ezekiel 2:4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God.
5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
Ezekiel 3:27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

The Book of Enoch: Chapters CIV - CV

Chapter CIV

(twice for some reason)

1. In those days, saith the Lord, they shall call to the children of the earth, and make them listen to their wisdom. Show them that you are their leaders;
2. And that renumeration shall take place over the whole earth ; for I and my Son will for ever hold communion with them in the paths of uprightness, while they are still alive. Peace shall be yours. Rejoice, children of integrity, in the truth.

Chapter CV

1. After a time, my son Mathusala took a wife for his son Lamech.
2. She became pregnant by him, and brought forth a child, the flesh of which was as white as snow, and red as a rose; the hair of whose head was white like wool, and long ; and whose eyes were beautiful. When he opened them, he illuminated all the house, like the sun ; the whole house abounded with light.
3. And when he was taken from the hand of the midwife, opening also his mouth, he spoke to the Lord of righteousness. Then Lamech his father was afraid of him ; and flying away came to his own father Mathusala, and said, I have begotten a son, unlike to other chidren. He is not human; but, resembling the offspring of the angels of heaven, is of a different nature from ours, being altogether unlike to us.
4. His eyes are bright as the rays of the sun ; his countenance glorious, and he looks not as if he belonged to me, but to the angels.
5. I am afraid, lest something miraculous should take place on earth in his days.
6. And now, my father, let me entreat and request you to go to our progenitor Enoch, and to learn from him the truth; for his residence is with the angels.
7. When Mathusala heard the words of his son, he came to me at the extremities of the earth ; for he had been informed that I was there : and he cried out.
8. I heard his voice, and went to him saying. Behold, I am here, my son ; since thou art come to me.
9. He answered and said. On account of a great event have I come to thee ; and on account of a sight difficult to be comprehended have I approached thee.
10. And now, my father, hear me ; for to my son Lamech a child has been born, who resembles not him ; and whose nature is not like the nature of man. His colour is whiter than snow ; he is redder than the rose ; the hair of his head is whiter than white wool ; his eyes are like the rays of the sun; and when he opened them he illuminated the whole house.
11. When also he was taken from the hand of the midwife, he opened his mouth, and blessed the Lord of heaven.
12. His father Lamech feared, and fled to me, believing not that the child belonged to him, but that he resembled the angels of heaven. And behold I am come to thee, that thou mightest point out to me the truth. Then I, Enoch, answered and said. The Lord will effect a new thing upon the earth. This have I explained, and seen in a vision. I have shown thee that in the generations of Jared my father, those who were from heaven disregarded the word of the Lord. Behold they committed crimes ; laid aside their class, and intermingled with women. With them also they transgressed ; married with them, and begot children.
14. A great destruction therefore shall come upon all the earth ; a deluge, a great destruction, shall take place in one year.
15. This child which is born to you shall survive on the earth, and his three sons shall be saved with him. When all mankind who are on earth shall die, he shall be safe.
16. And his posterity shall beget on the earth giants, not spiritual, but carnal. Upon the earth shall a great punishment be inflicted, and it shall be washed from all corruption. Now therefore inform thy son Lamech, that he who is born is his child in truth ; and he shall call his name Noah, for he shall be to you a survivor. He and his children shall be saved from the corruption which shall take place in the world ; from all the sin and from all the iniquity which shall be consummated on earth in his days. Afterwards shall greater impiety take place than that which had been before consummated on the earth ; for. I am acquainted with holy mysteries, which the Lord himself has discovered and explained to me ; and which I have read in the tablets of heaven.
17. In them I saw it written, that generation after generation shall transgress, until a righteous race shall arise ; until transgression and crime perish from off the earth ; until all goodness come upon it.
18. And now, my son, go tell thy son Lamech,
19. That the child which is born is his child in truth ; and that there is no deception.
20. When Mathusala heard the word of his father Enoch, who had shown him every secret thing, he returned with understanding, and called the name of that child Noah ; because he was to console the earth on account of all its destruction.
21. Another book, which Enoch wrote for his son Mathusala, and for those who should come after him, and preserve their purity of conduct in the latter days. You, who have laboured, shall wait in those days, until the evil doers be consumed, and the power of the guilty be annihilated. Wait, until sin pass away ; for their names shall be blotted out of the holy books; their seed shall be destroyed, and their spirits slain. They shall cry out and lament in the invisible waste, and in the bottomless fire shall they burn. There I perceived, as it were, a cloud which could not be seen through ; for from the depth of it I was unable to look upwards. I beheld also a flame of fire blazing brightly, and, as it were, glittering mountains whirled around, and agitated from side to side.
22. Then I inquired of one of the holy angels who was with me, and said. What is this splendid object ? For it is not heaven, but a flame of fire alone which blazes ; and in it there is the clamour of exclamation, of woe, and of great suffering.
23. He said. There, into that place which thou beholdest, shall be thrust the spirits of sinners and blasphemers ; of those who shall do evil, and who shall pervert all which God has spoken by the mouth of the prophets ; all which they ought to do. For respecting these things there shall be writings and impressions above in heaven, that the angels may read them and know what shall happen both to sinners and to the spirits of the humble ; to those who have suffered in their bodies, but have been rewarded by God ; who have been injuriously treated by wicked men ; who have loved God ; who have been attached neither to gold nor silver, nor to any good thing in the world, but have given their bodies to torment;
24. To those who from the period of their birth have not been covetous of earthly riches ; but have regarded themselves as a breath passing away.
25. Such has been their conduct ; and much has the Lord tried them ; and their spirits have been found pure, that they might bless his name. All their blessings have I related in a book ; and He has rewarded them ; for they have been found to love heaven with an everlasting aspiration. God has said, While they have been trodden down by wicked men, they have heard from them revilings and blasphemies ; and have been ignominiously treated, while they were blessing me. And now will I call the spirits of the good from the generation of light, and will change those who have been born in darkness ; who have not in their bodies been recompensed with glory, as their faith may have merited.
26. I will bring them into the splendid light of those who love my holy name : and I will place each of them on a throne of glory, of glory peculiarly his own, and they shall be at rest during unnumbered periods. Righteous is the judgment of God;
27. For to the faithful shall he give faith in the habitations of uprightness. They shall see those, who having been born in darkness unto darkness shall be cast ; while the righteous shall be at rest. Sinners shall cry out, beholding them, while they exist in splendour and proceed forwards to the days and periods prescribed to them.

Here ends the vision of Enoch the prophet.
May the benediction of his prayer, and the gift of his appointed period, be with his beloved!
Amen.

From Knowledge to Wisdom

1 Kings 3

5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

Solomon the 3rd King of Israel became the wisest and most knowledgeable King that ever was and ever will be. No man after him will ever match his knowledge and wisdom. (see verse 12).

Any man that wishes to gain a portion of Solomon's knowledge and wisdom should read what Solomon said and wrote:
  • Proverbs is a source of knowledge and wisdom Solomon was given by God.
  • Song of Solomon
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

Are we wise enough to not repeat the same errors over?

Man's Life Span prior to the limited aging

Prior to Gods decree in Genesis 6:3, men lived in some cases over 900 years. But because of his wickedness, God limited man's life span to 120 years.

Genesis 6
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Many including myself, believe that man was so advanced, that his imagination took him to where we are getting today: Genetic Manipulations.
Not knowing what triggered God to destroy the Earth, could cause us to lack the wisdom to not go there.

Learning From Experiences

Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience, and is more specifically defined as "learning through reflection on doing".

"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."  _  Confucius

"Experience is the teacher of all things."  _   Julius Caesar

"I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know no way of judging the future but by the past."  _  Patrick Henry

"While it is wise to learn from experience, it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others."  _  Rick Warren

What can we learn from the quotes of many great men?  If we start chronologically, we cannot omit Solomon.  Proverbs is Solomon’s wisdom to give us a hint of knowledge.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” _  Solomon (Proverbs 4:7)
To get understanding, one must first learn. The process of learning requires getting knowledge. Learning can be easy or it can be painful, or outright very damaging. Experience is acquired through ones life. From toddlers to adults we gather and learn, from our experiences or that of others. Our parents spare us the hurt of many painful experiences, by telling us of their experiences, warning us of dangers.
Eventually, through this whole process, some become wise. The degree of wisdom acquired through our lives depends on how much we learned or how much we experienced. It is said that King Solomon was outright given the gift of superior wisdom. None have had this advantage, and none can pretend to have superior wisdom.
NATO History shows us that experience is almost always the best teacher.
Those who are supposedly the guardians of nations, use history as a Geopolitical tool to manipulate nations and kneel them to their whim. They are wise, and know what actions engendered what results. History is full of those tales.

So what of us the simple people? What would wisdom bring us?

For one, not fall in the traps of the deceivers and manipulators of our World. To live avoiding making the mistakes others have made in the past. To strive and better ourselves, generations after generations. Only then will humanity fulfill it’s mission.
In this century plagued by corruption, how can we ignore the past to understand the motivations of those who seek to deceive us in order to gain the upper hand on others?  When elaborating on politics the pros and cons of an idea, how can we ignore history?

Was corruption common in the past?

Not as much as today, because in the past very few had power, and because of many reasons such as the class system (royals, nobles, cerfs, slaves…), it was hard for one to get in power.
Today, many more are in positions of power to various degrees, and because of it, corruption is even harder to detect.  Corruption is, at so many levels a means to ascend to greater positions of power.  If you add to it, the ever receding morals and values, it becomes even more dangerous, and ever present.
In today’s morals, lying has become a daily routine. For any reason from the little white lie to the huge deception, it has become an accepted way to do things. Most people even laugh at their deceptions, and make fun of the more “gullible ones”. Gullible people are people who could never think of such deceptions and even believe others are like them.  Scams, con men, false advertising, are part of daily business.  Were those not existent in the past? Yes, of course, but since they were operating within their areas, they often were spotted, or had to be very careful and super-creative.
Today one operates world wide with means never available before. A con man based in Africa can appear to be or pretend to live a few miles from you.

Have the methods of deception changed from the past?

No, not so much. The same old, same old subterfuges are used today with a technological twist.  That is why history is important.
How many Wars were brought up for other reasons than what we expected them to be?
How many genocides came from so called benevolent rulers?
How many economic calamities occurred for the profit of those who created them?
History my friends! Learn it or be square!
