Chicago shootings: 71 shot, 8 killed in 4th of July weekend Violence

Chicago is known for violence on July 4th.

Last year, 19 people were killed and more than 100 people were shot over the long Fourth of July weekend.
This year, violent groups attacked Chicago police vehicles in at least two incidents over the holiday weekend, injuring one officer.

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. — A gunman perched on a rooftop fired dozens of rounds at spectators at a Fourth of July parade in a Chicago suburb on Monday, killing at least six people.
More than 40 additional victims were treated at hospitals.
