The Prophets of the Old testament

Most prophets of the Old testament, told of the future of the people of Israel prior to 0 BC. , or the Hebrew year 4004.  They foretold and warned of fall of the Great Kingdom of Israel, if the people did not follow God's Laws (The Ten Commandments, and the Seven Holy Feasts).  The people and the Kings of Israel, (and later Judah where Jerusalem was located) did not heed their warnings.
It started with the weakness of the Great King Solomon, who let his wife Naamah worship her god Moloch. It further drove their downfall after Jezebel, wife of King Ahab, erected temples and incited the worship of Baal and Asherah.  Israel the, then mightiest Kingdom, was then obliterated. Further in time, the remaining Kingdom of Judah (a separation of the kingdom of Israel), was also utterly destroyed (including the Temple), and the people either taken captive or fled away from their once God given land.

A few of the prophets of the Old testament did however Prophecy for times long after the Kingdom of Israel:

  • Isaiah announced the arrival of Jesus Christ. (7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.); (9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.) and (chapter 53)
  • Daniel warns us of the 4 Great Beasts of the Sea, an End Times Prophecy.
  • Micah speaks of a time when all nations will come to Jerusalem to worship. (see Micah 4)
  • Zechariah after lamenting for Israel, an Angel tells him of future Jerusalem. (see Zechariah 2)
