Under the second King, David, expanded its military power and conquests.
The 3rd King Solomon, took the Kingdom to a prosperity known by all neighbors. He actively worked and traded with the Phoenicians and Assyrians. The Kingdom split right after his death (974 BC.).
First in 720 BC., the Northern Kingdom was invaded by the Assyrians. They also sieged Jerusalem of the Southern Kingdom. At night, an angel of God killed 185,000 Assyrians as they fled from the siege (2 Kings 19:35).
Later, the Southern Kingdom (Jerusalem) was utterly destroyed by the Babylonians around 600 B.C.
The tribe of Levi lived among the other tribes as they were the Priests for the other tribes.
The tribes of Judah and Simeon were part of the Southern Kingdom whose Capital was Jerusalem.
All the other 9 tribes were part of the Northern Kingdom that had for Capital Damascus.
Manasseh and Ephraim were two branches of the tribe of Joseph.

Are you of Israelite descent? From a paternal genealogy done by Nat.Geo., it says my ancestors lived in Jericho. Since the habitants of Jericho all (but one woman) were killed, then the ancestors were of the tribe of Benjamin located in later Jericho, after the Israelite take over.
