Love the Lord your God with all your Heart and Soul

Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

The Big 'theological' Debate

Should Christians follow the Torah?
This question came to my mind. Should We or don't We have to?
Careful, do not follow doctrines of men. Judaism is full of them.
The Bible is clear, do we believe and are followers of Christ?
Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

BY FAITH!
What does it mean to be faithful?
Definitions:
- steadfast in affection or allegiance : LOYAL
- firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty : CONSCIENTIOUS
- given with strong assurance : BINDING
- true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original

The Kingdom of God on Earth. (Outside of the city of New Jerusalem)
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

His commandements: they can be found in Exodus and Deuteronomy 5. And also in Matthew 4 and 5; 1 John 5; Acts 17; 1 Timothy 6; Romans 13; Matthew 19; Romans 7; Mark 12. We can count 10 of them.
What of the other 603 laws and the Feasts of the Lord?

Zechariah 14:16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

Zechariah 14 depicts the return of Christ and his rule on earth. Jerusalem will be the New Jerusalem that comes down from heaven. Families will have to come worship during the Feast of Tabernacles.
Here's my take. The more one observes his commandements, the less likely he or she is to sin. Dedication, like a training, to do his will and become righteous.
Years ago (2018) I wrote a Blog post titled: God Communicates. I described what it felt like to obey or disobey God. The feeling was in part Holy Spirit (the guidance) and the pressing of evil ones to make me stray away from God and embrace wickedness.
Today, looking back at my life, I've been in constant battle against evil. I believe most of us have been in such a life long battle. And it becomes an endurance race, as we strive to walk in God's ways, and become righteous.

After thought extension

Ok, I did not leave a clear answer since I don't know the answer to be Torah observant.
So, I'll tell you what I do.
I Love God with all my heart and soul.
I follow the 10 commandements.
I don't do what is forbidden in the 603 laws. Or I try since I don't know them by heart. But then again, the Holy Spirit is my guide.
Of the 10, I observe Shabbat. It so happen that I am retired and don't work on Saturdays. Saturday would have been impossible when I was working. Does the Bible specify Saturday? No, where does it say so. All we know is that God worked for 6 days and rested on the 7th.
Of course, the other 9's are of utmost importance.
Do I observe the Feasts of the Lord? Shabbat; Passover and the week of unleavened bread; pretty much all of them even the Day of Atonement, but without sacrifice, since Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. Tabernacles at my age? No, no tent for me, until the day God let's us partake of the waters of life, or after we rise from the dead.
I pray as often as I can. I praise God for everything I enjoy, see, and more. There is so much around us to praise.
And most of all I trust God in everything. Not science, and certainly not men.

Do I follow the dietary laws? I do. A few months after I started, my heath improved.
And yes, I read the Bible and other God inspired texts daily. Pastors, priest, theologians, I listen to but... Again I don't trust men.

  1. Shabbat in Hebrew means "to cease" or "to stop," specifically referring to the cessation of work.
